Soft Johnson Foamie Wax Cool/Cold is designed to be easy to apply and creates a long-lasting, super-sticky top coat for your foamie, keeping you stuck to your stick all session long. This one's for water under 20°C (68°F), covering both the Cool and Cold grades in one bar.

Soft-tops are where plenty of us learn, and they stay a lot of fun long after that. They don't need a basecoat either, so you can rub this straight onto the deck and go. One bar covers everything from a winter morning at St Clair to a spring session at Piha.

Where and when in New Zealand. Based on average monthly sea temperatures, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin sit under 20°C all year, so this is your year-round foamie wax down there. In Northland, the Auckland west coast and the Bay of Plenty, it covers May to December. Raglan is under 20°C from April to December, Gisborne in January and from April to December, and Taranaki in January and from March to December.

Further afield. Bells Beach and Torquay in Victoria, and Santa Cruz in Northern California, stay under 20°C all year. It also covers San Diego and New Jersey from October to June, North Carolina's Outer Banks from November to May, Bondi from July to October, and Margaret River from July to November.

When the water climbs past 20°C, swap to Soft Johnson Foamie Wax Warm/Tropical. Before each surf, rub on a thin fresh layer to bring the grip back, and keep the board out of a hot car so the wax doesn't melt. Made in New Zealand.
