Soft Johnson Foamie Wax Warm/Tropical

Soft Johnson Foamie Wax Warm/Tropical is designed to be easy to apply and creates a long-lasting, super-sticky top coat for your foamie, so you stay on your feet from the paddle-out to the last ride in. This one's for water from 19 to 25°C (66–77°F), the range printed on the box, which covers warm summer water at home and most warm-water trips.

It's the summer foamie wax, made for warmer water and for a board that's been sitting on the sand. Soft-tops don't need a basecoat, so rub it straight onto the deck and you're away. Keep it out of a hot car between sessions all the same, since any wax will soften if it cooks.

Where and when in New Zealand. Based on average monthly sea temperatures, it suits Northland and the Bay of Plenty from December to April, Muriwai, Piha and Raglan from January to April, and Gisborne and Taranaki from January to March. Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin don't average 19°C in any month, so stick with Foamie Wax Cool/Cold down south. The months are averages, so trust what the water's doing on the day.

Further afield. It's a year-round foamie wax for Sydney. It also suits the Gold Coast from May to November, Margaret River from November to July, Florida from November to May, Hawaii from December to April, San Diego and North Carolina's Outer Banks from June to October, and New Jersey from July to September. Water above 25°C (77°F) is past the range on the box, so in the hottest months keep the bar out of the sun and top up more often.
